2:00 A.M.

The delicacy of this hour I share with people lying in hospital beds having trouble sleeping while I sip strong coffee and wait for inspiration to contact me with its kiss of morning. Starlight enters en pointe, wearing a pair of pink, satin-laced toe shoes; arms extended, eyes alert and free. The fragility of the moment held in tender embrace. Souls in hospital beds rise and form a rapturous, dancing-chorus, a corps de ballet rarely seen in human realms, one that offers ecstatic plies to the moon.
