Dear Daver, Your beautiful poem brought tears to my eyes. My mother had to drop out of high school and go to work. My parents went through the Depression too, and although it ended before I was born, Dad was ever so tight with money. Still, I don't recall ever "wanting" for something. Love is what a child needs most and I had plenty of that. Love you, my friend. Carolyn

It must have been so horrible for her to lose her home in those times. I knew it was Depression era, but was thinking maybe it also had some other significant meaning for her. I think my mother was very lucky in her childhood. Her parents had a farm and the farm kids at least did not go hungry in those times. You should write some more poems from this scary era of history. I know your childhood poems I got from you are mostly happy ones!

wonderful remembrance of her, Daver. I just love this. 1935 was around the time my mother was born. What was the significance of that year in your title here?

you are so funny, Daver. I am NOT a nature's child. But I will take a sunny clearing in the woods any day to a pew in a church.
