The Question and the Answer
THE QUESTION: Is there anyone out there who can see me? Not the exterior facade Not the persona I wish to portray But the real being that has no form Who can detect what lies buried Beneath the surface of skin and bone and flesh? Can one feel what one cannot see? Surely it is so, for I have felt a soul I've felt a soul in pain, and in love I have been washed by kindness And seared by unleashed hate When standing close to their bearers Perception is key to seeing That which cannot be seen And wisdom is the crucial thing we need To act in ways that are right and true Each of us needs to be known As deeply as we were made to be We long to connect in ways beyond The mediocrity of usual senses Connections made from heart to heart Are what drives us to keep trying To find others who see that need And press on toward realizing it THE ANSWER: There is One who sees the heart Who will dwell inside us all Who knows how best to fill the space And to penetrate the walls We've built them to protect us To keep the hurting out But the very One who made us knows What our needs are all about His care is more than we have ever Imagined it could be Since He formed us as we are Who else to better, then, to see?
