Monster
Anything with more than one head Is a monster, a beast yoked to beast, Bull-headed and stubborn; Each going its own way At its own pace Hindering the other. Though joined at the hip, Legs buck and heads butt To take control to take the lead; But another in the field Is pulling their reigns. Standing behind the plow Forcing them in directions For his deep furrows in the ground; And when they stop or stray, He snaps and tightens the chords Whipping them with the swift scourge Of his command. As they bay Under burden again and again Pressured to steer As one to get the job done... Yoked together at the neck, Unequally, until... The one should love And the other should submit, Or at the end of the day When they are separated, Each beast is by itself... The two-headed monster is no more.
