Mourn Not, Death Can Be a Gift
Mourn Not, Death Can Be a Gift ( A Collaboration) I die more wrapped in stone each day storms batter my empty seas. Shield broken, now red blood to pay I dare to fight on my knees. Death, holds its long, dark salute where banners fallen burn. In life, its the last savage brute this kettle and stew I spurn. What of skies so brightly flying by summer's soft gentle replays. I hold on, dare I not to ever cry time is just painful delays. Hope once told me it was my friend. Now I see how, it brings closer my end. I closed my eyes to accept cruel fate apt as Hope visited my burial place. It roused me pleading, "It's not too late," washed rivulets of blood from my face. Death be gone, for I shall not yield! Unwrap your dark hands from my heart. A better gift from Hope, a new shield, I will hold on with life as my consort. Once more do I gaze upon skies of blue Upon the seas, I've new memories to make. Heed my warning, Death, this I promise you, my lifeblood will never be yours to take. Hope has proven to be my trusted loyal friend. I vow that I shall never doubt its power again. Robert Lindley and Lin Lane Note: A collaboration with my friend the very talented Lin Lane. My deep thanks for such beautiful verses and kindness shown.
