Soul To Keep
The ceremony was a joke, The bride didn't wear white. We were married by Spok, On the outskirts of Vegas that night. You wore your tripp pants, I wore my black corset boots. Because nothing else mattered, But being with you. The rain started to fall, The stars really came down. As you gave me your jacket, And spun me around. It had finally happened, We were finally married. We sped down the road in my hearse, With Joy Division blaring. We drank our insides dry, We hit every bar. And pulled the car over, To make love under the stars. With fake I.Ds in our pockets, We fell far from grace. I made a point when we got home, To throw rice in your face. The bills grew up, And we did too. With every fight and dollar earned. We lost the innocence of youth. And everytime we walked out on this, We found our way back home. Though every ambulance ride, We never woke up alone. And still to this day, Before we go to sleep. As I lay down beside you. I give to you my soul to keep.
