I am drained from holding on to a love That is slipping through my fingers I try to tighten my grip But that seems to just lessen my hold I can’t hold it I can’t hold you I can’t make you happy enough Satisfied enough If I could make you touch the sky? Would it make you love me? The way you should Cherish me The way you said you would You tell me not to ever leave you But you have already left me To face the world The pain The rejection Alone Why did you find me? Only to hurt me Why did you pursue me? Get me to care Just to show me how much you don’t I guess you just enjoyed the chase Forgetting the times I told you About my past hurt The times you told me about yours When we use to talk for hours And still have so much left to say Foolishly I believed you were different When the only difference was your name You can’t even see how much of me I give you How much of me is dying from being with you Nor do you appreciate The fact I always put you first Even though you always keep me last But that’s okay I no longer want you to care Let the chips fall where they may
