A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To Old Age
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to old Age By Franklin Price 2/1/2015 A funny thing happened on the way to old age Book opened at birth headed for the last page Interesting chapters some short and some long Most of it right very little was wrong The chapter now open is really quite cool Discovering friends that were left in high school Fifty years gone getting near fifty-one To get reacquainted is really quite fun We left one another in June '64 Our callings quite varied six hundred and more As many as classmates that left on that night To travel as far as each of us might We left and we did it whatever it was Many lost contact except for rumor and buzz Some never left are still living next door Some seen on vacations through letters and more Then reunion time came it had been fifty years We gathered together to down a few beers Fewer we were we were saddened by that Many had wrinkles and a little more fat Some who had made it found friendship in age If you like you may find me on my Facebook page Already retired without much to do You can post things to me and I can post some to you Pictures of grand-kids and vacations too Posters with sayings that mean much to you Grateful to live and to have health and home And you're probably glad it's the end of this poem
