Proud Enough For a Tear
Out in the front yard playing a little boy and little girl. He being a boy falls and skins his knee. He didn't cry. A few years later , watching "Old Yeller" with his friends. At the end he didn't cry. Many years later, she is giving birth to his first born. He holds that little one for the first time, all ten and every thing there, he cried like a baby. A few years down the road. He is walking up the aisle with his baby. He's so proud ,tears well in his eyes. Many years later. Rocking on the front porch, he looks over and sees, that same girl fourty years ago. Tears flow freely down that wrinkled face, he cries because he cares so much. The light that has guided him through his darkest times, tears come unbidden to her same green eyes. that same proud boy cries because he still loves..
