Was he shot down by cops or by members of a gang? I don't have answer to that. The dead man had his eyes closed resting in peace, emancipated it seems, from piercing pain and sorrow. Life didn't change a bit, surrounding that motionless being. Nobody switched off the Sun or punched a hole on pale blue sky. In numbness, I stood there for a while. The cops emerged and asked me to leave. I followed the order like a domesticated dog, obediently. And I came home silently. Mama, I didn't cry but I felt a pain deep inside.
