Chelsea's Wish
She was a blonde-haired blue-eyed girl From down in Tennessee. She was the tender age of twelve And pretty as can be. Yes, Chelsea was so full of life. She loved to live each day. But she was dying from cancer And soon, she’ll pass away. Oh, Chelsea told her mom one day, When all the sky was blue, About a special wish she had And hoped it would come true. “Yes, I could wish for world peace,” Yes she said with a smile, “I could wish all the fighting would Let up for just awhile. Or I could wish for riches and Have power and have fame. Or I could wish my life be saved. A longer life to claim. Yes, I could wish that ev’ryone Has lots of food to eat Or wish that all the children would Have shoes upon their feet.” “But mom”, she said, “Here’s what I wish So now you have been told. I wish to be an angel and Walk on those streets of gold. I want to shake my maker’s hand And see Him face to face Because I know He’ll welcome me Into His holy place. And mom, I want to comfort you When you are feeling sad. I want to bring peace from above And give to you and dad.” “And mom,” she said, “I’ve loved my life, But now it’s time to go And also mom, please don’t forget I’ll always love you so. I’m going to a better place. Mom, put your mind at ease.” Then Chelsea’s wish, it did come true. She closed her eyes in peace.
