My Mother
The day I was unwrapped. JAN. 27 1995. I was named Landon and as I cried heard your voice and looked into your eyes I was pronounced as your son, and you as my mother. From the very day I took my first steps. From the very moment I took my first steps. I was a son walking to his mother my mother. The day I realized that you were also both mother and father. That day you was pronounced a strong leader, my mother. Picturing you as a mama bear raising two cubs. Wandering through the world protecting us making not any sneaky wolves snatch us up. Not only you was my mother, you was an protector, our guardian angel haha, my mother. Those days where I was taught something about not always having to fight and those days where that belt was on my mind and it always keep it right. And to always to hold on to my dreams and my wishes and that I don't need to spit game to get all the girls attention. I looked you as a teacher, my mother. Those days where you had told me improve on things and get better on the little things. I use to hate that but also looked at you as my coach, my mother. Days where we decorated the Xmas tree. I will never forget those things that you got from me. All those special days I looked you as my Santa haha, my mother. Their were also days of frustration. And their were so many times where we went at. If arguments were drugs we were attics. Frustration to anger. Anger to sadness. Sadness turned to apologies. Because I knew no matter what you loved me unconditionally. Because you were my mother. This poem I wrote for you was in the walls in my brain but it was in the cells in my heart. And no other women could tear our love apart because I love you, my mother. And a reminder to all the single mothers. Don't let the stress and the panic drown you and take you under. Regardless if you a black single mother, white single mother, Mexican single mother, Asian single, don't let the stress and panic consume you and take you over. Because I don't regret the day I was named Landon and God never promised us an easy life but he did promised us a safe landing haha. May your daughters look at you as queens and they are the princess and give her an example on how a strong woman should be. To all single parents I salute you. And to my mother unwrap my gift I have for you. I love you my mother. Merry Christmas
