I Recall
You'd never know to see me now that I was ever young, and never found myself alone. My songs were all unsung. I didn't know my life was rich with full measure of love. I wasn't born with silver spoon but with blessings from above. The sunny days came oftener than they seem to come today. I didn't need expensive toys to be happy in my play. Those childhood days are over and will never come again. I remember them as full of joy, can't recall a single pain. I don't remember times when I felt lonely or alone. As middle child of large family I was never on my own. I remember happiness in arms of the man I'd marry as well as those two children and the other one I carry. I'm widowed now with children grown, and I'm living on my own. Even though I know I'm cherished I spend most of my time alone. But I recall togetherness and happily running free and all the good folks I have loved, no longer here with me.
