Don'T Look Back
People say I'm strong But i was once weak, Abused all day long Not allowed to speak. Survivor i may be Over my shoulder i still look, I was the victim you see My happiness he took. You soon learn reality You open your eyes, I never wanted pity I never wished for his lies. Years i carried the guilt Only one step at a time, My life now rebuilt, Yes I'm allowed to shine. No longer a bruise in sight No longer a broken bone, No longer scared of the night No longer all alone. I used to have a reason to cry I now have a reason to smile, Im no longer with that bad guy My life now worthwhile. My children now feel secure They may only have me, Happiness forever more From violence we are free. It's time to move on now People say I'm strong, Abuse i no longer allow I can speak, i belong!
