Just Because
They tell me everything just is because it's an easy thing to say, a quick solution to give to anything before getting too deep into the problem. But would you say to that a famous painting? What if YOU were Mona Lisa trapped on that canvas... would you go exploring your papery world and say "This is how it's always been"...? And the children... they belong in the just-because file to. Before them there was you, and before you, there were your parents and before your parents, there was... Well just how far back does it go before you get something... different? Just the other day my kid scraped his knee, and I saw that tears were beginning to make oceans in those eyes. He saw me reaching for the Popsicles and I was like... what happened to those oceans? It was like sunshine after after the storm. But what made those feelings? How did sudden and complete pain turn into bubbly joy? I'm sure if one bent and twisted over a dozen scientific laws you could say it was conceivable that all that came from... nothing. Yet you can't deny the emotions you feel. The very conscience of your being. Can you? The simple fact that you can even ponder that question proves there's something more... something extraordinary and capable of having purpose. We aren't just a phase in an endless chain... chains are made of metal, they're cold and heartless. A grain of sand on the beach, perhaps, but we ARE something. Think long and hard if you like, for we have freedom to do so. Think until we develop into some greater being... maybe even go so far beyond as to a being that needs not a brain... An indestructible prismatic alloy, if you will (it sounds fancy enough... I think I'll stick with it). But, please if you will, one more question (but only if you're laughing). Where'd you get your sense of humor from? Think long and hard...
