Slumber
Some trials are so intense that the suffering begins to suffocate like toxic anesthesia, And as God does surgery on our soul we sleep to his presence in our lives, We forget certain basic understandings of his plan and his love for us, We become deaf to the sound of her encouragement and her tender protection, But just as we are destined to transition from this life to another, All trials must come to an end. And when the trial begins to fade away, we awake to what we once knew, And we find that we mysteriously believe it more fervently than before the fire came upon us. Some say that we are ultimately depraved. Others say that we are fully divine. But perhaps we are both and the walk of faith is the process of becoming who we already are and shedding the dead skin of what we once were.
