Those Words Goodbye
He took her hand and held her close Before he had to go Although he did not want her to know that he saw how She tried so hard not to cry And kept fighting the tears that wanted to fall from her eyes While In her mind so many memories replayed From the time they had their last kiss And to hearing those words goodbye As he drove away he couldn’t wave He felt like he was walking his grave Wishing there more to this feeling he craved Because all he felt was fear and depression As he thought of all the things he forgot to mention Like how much he loved her so And how he didn’t want to go And how he didn’t feel like a brave man Because these tears he fought back just wanted to flow There was something deep inside That brought upon his lonely cry As he went to do his duty and fight for his country And he didn’t want her to know that he Was trying so hard not to cry As he kept fighting the tears that wanted to fall from his eyes As he thought of all the things he forgot to mention Like how much he loved her so And how he didn’t want to go And how he didn’t feel like a brave man Because these tears he fought back just wanted to flow He couldn’t wait until the day he could come home And hold her close again Without having to worry about leaving Until he was told he had to go And wish this was not the way the story goes He took her hand and held her close Before he had to go Although he did not want her to know that he saw how She tried so hard not to cry And kept fighting the tears that wanted to fall from her eyes While In her mind so many memories replayed From the time they had their last kiss And to hearing those words goodbye
