Citius, Altius, Fortius
The temple of Olympia gave birth to the games Kingdoms of Greece did battle before the flames Coroebus of Elis first champion and winner Blood sweat and tears before the king of Olympia. Hercules and Zeus were the main driving force Great leader and a son filled with bitter remorse Twelve labors carried out the beasts all been slayed A temple was built and the debt was repaid. From BC to AD the games were violent but true The Roman Empire rose and their influence grew A new world order begins kingdoms start to fragment The walls of Olympia cast down now silent. A millennium passed and then five hundred years more No warriors or kings to make the crowds roar Their victories and triumphs forgotten in verse Chariot’s wheels stop turning struck down by a curse An Industrial age the games start a new thread Ideas reborn in Dialogue of the dead Athletes compete across the Ottoman Empire A committee is formed to scheme and conspire Six men good and true no need to be contrite Much as god this positions for life New gods demand a road show and Greece is left behind All traditions and values to history are consigned Five rings and flame symbols of a new dawn Tarnished by money, greed, bribery and scorn The fastest man on earth breaths hard with pounding heart Adverts must finish before he can start Four years of training he is in peak condition All needle marks are gone thanks to his clever physician A return to Athens a mirror ignites the suns rays Thousands in a relay but coca cola pays Citius, Altius, Fortius the Olympic motto states Victory at all costs the rewards are too great
