Old Age Learning
Gadgets here, buttons there Computers everywhere It’s such a silly shame When anything goes wrong They’re always to blame Why should I be bothered To learn these worthless tools When I can use my mind And seldom be a fool When it comes to writing I’d rather use a pen Than have to learn a program That’s well beyond my ken The TV’s many buttons I always press them wrong I’d rather leave it off Than learn to switch it on Now I’m old and deaf With little sense of tone I’ll just keep on using My wind-up gramophone My stove it has a timer Which I never use Although it works quite simply It makes me so confused I’d rather check for hours Without a metal block Than learn to set the buttons Of the timing clock. The Cell phones are so tiny With buttons bright and shiny I can phone from anywhere No matter where I roam But I can’t see when I’d use them If I never leave my home The world is full of gadgets To make my life a breeze But to find out how to use them Makes my mind just freeze Without a single gadget I’m as happy as can be If I never learn to use them My time belongs to me
