Did You See Me As I Saw You?
Memories come alive of childhood days gone past When at day’s end I’d lie in bed, at last The house was quiet on those moonlit nights We’d gaze so amazed at the glorious sight A gigantic ball hanging in mid night blue skies! Like a Chinese lantern, by invisible strings hung As noisy crickets sing their shrill song Fireflies in the garden played hide and go seek While little girls and boys found it hard to fall asleep Their curious minds filled with questions so deep I believed truly, that there was a man in the moon Who in recline like I, would be off to bed soon Who delayed sleep each night to hear the tired sighs And share imagined tales of adventures in space Bringing warm smiles to brighten a little face Then slowly behind a cloud, he’d peek with one sleepy eye! When suddenly a brilliant shooting star would whiz on by Excitement reigned for a while as sleepy eyes roamed the sky “Man in the moon, today I ask of you- Did you see me back then as I saw you?"
