The February 16th Snow Ushers In World Peace
Morning stubles off in near slumber as Afternoon finally comes over. I am still sleepy. My heart beats quickly as I lose my balance halfway down the stairs, catch myself on the wooden rail, and continue down to the couch. Charlie Mingus is on with Better Git it in Your Soul. The room smells of dead tobacco from smoking periodically throughout the night. I tossed, turned, struggled to keep my eyes shut. It did not help, but it makes insomnia more bearable. I light one more, walk to the window. I watch the February 16th snow as it drizzles, gusts, then drizzles as the wind dies down. The snowflakes begin to swarm in a mad flurry as they scurry to join their brothers atop marble heaps on the ground. The wind seems puzzled. The snow close to the window hurls to the earth going diagonally to the left, and further, to the right. I think of all the others who approach the same sight at the same time. That's all we truly need in life, an occasional moment of clarity, serenity to keep us from the madhouses. Amen.
