Gift From a Dead Man
strangely enough it was a gift from mr. bukowski himself you see i didn't learn of it until today my birthday my 35th birthday until this morning i have to say i was feeling quite miffed about the whole thing halfway to forty from my young thirty which at the time i was also riled about upon this morning the exact morning of this most wonderful birthday the birthday of 35 i sat finishing a book of poetry by mr. bukowski himself unknowing his gift to me i got to the last poem a poem about life and the ending of it then turned the page read about mr.bukowski his trade and treasure then i found it my gift from him to me one of those little gifts unexpectedly that falls in your lap the true surprise gifts that you haven't gotten since you were six years old finding that shiny new bicycle in bold letters it went on about his writing career and years of novels published this one in 1971 that one in 1982 but the game of poetry not until he turned 35 i felt reborn still a chance a true birthday today a surprise little gift some wind in my sail gift from a dead man thanks, mr. bukowski
