A Single Drop of Rain
A Single Drop of Rain By: Arianne B. #22 As I fall from the sky, I see all the other unfortunate souls that have to scatter across the land of the living; the land of pain, where people have to go through hell to get to heaven. I don’t think I will ever know why God does what he does, but he does it for a reason. I will never know why God is sending me back to this sinful place where we have to go through trials, tribulations, and mistakes in the form of a single drop of rain. When I land, I land in a stream. It is warm and welcoming but at the same time cold and dark. It is like life, good at times but can turn just as cold as this stream is becoming. I sink lower into the stream but still learn to flow with the current. It lets me know that it is okay to finally be one with something. That all the drops of rain in this stream were once alone and naïve but have learned to become one with themselves and the rest of us. I don’t think that I will ever be alone again. We start to pick up speed when I notice that the fish and the alligators are trying to move in the opposite direction. The alligators and fish separate us as they swim the other way, but we always come back together, almost like we are one. The scales on their bodies rub against us, they feel warm and prickly but at the same time welcoming and friendly, reminding me as an individual of all the things I missed out on. That is when I hear it… the sound of water hitting water. And once again, I am falling from no where in particular to a gushing amount of water. I listen to it as it falls with me. The body of water that is now mine. This time it is different… this time the mist and air run across my slick back and rolls up as I roll down. It is warm and helps me understand the joys life still brings, it is sinful but it still has some good. I close my eyes as I am swallowed in a sea of love along with my fellow companions. I am looking at life in a completely different manner… all because of God’s unexplained reasoning for what he does. I will never know why God does what he does but he does it for a reason. All I know is the fact that he sent me to this wondrous place, to find out that I don’t have to be alone anymore… I came as a single drop of rain but stayed as a beautiful bank of water.
