The Rest of My Days
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. But before I do, please allow me to pray. For just as the sky has one brightest star. I’m forever in love with the person you are. Your heart is compassion in its truest form. Your lips are moist, tender and warm. Your eyes are as deep as deep can go. The kindest person I ever did know. Your soul is one that shines so bright. It gave me the desire to want to live right. You’re a Grandmother, Mother, Wife and lover. Who holds a grace and beauty like no other. When my life was as dark as dark could be. Your love led me to the Lord, which set me free. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Sweetheart, that feat shall take the rest of my days. Written for Tracy Decker’s “Inspired by the Masters” Poetry contest. Elizabeth Browning’s, “How Do I Love Thee”
