A Halloween Night
It was Halloween night A cemetery of fright Surrounded by fog That pulled you into its bog. The moonlight shone A dull orange tone Yet way up high Stars twinkled in the sky. It was a night for the dead When your fears were fed And dark shadows loomed As monsters were groomed. The chilly fall air Touched my bones without care Watching dry leaves dance In a fallen trance. You could hear ghost moan With a haunting groan As goblins giggled And chains jiggled. Flying bats shrieked As old doors creaked And witches flew As cold winds blew. Pumpkins grinned bright With a burning light As dogs growled While cats prowled. It was Halloween night Enclosing me with fright So I dived into bed And covered my head. Out of the ordinary for me--but I wrote this piece while sitting in my car during my lunch break at 2:30 in the morning. It was incredibly dark and creepy sitting there in the vacant parking lot while the rest of the world slept and for some reason these words just started to haunt me. Hope you get a thrill out of reading it!
