I'm Renee, 33, not new to writing but new-ish to poetry. Love reading work that's out of my league, love supporting other writers on their journeys. I suppose the best way to introduce myself is through a few of my favorite pieces, so enjoy!

Ketchup Packet

My worst nightmaresat down beside me
With the mostangelic face
And whispered thingstoo hard to swallow,
His smile sweeteningthe taste
“All that’s wickedhas the upper hand
“All that’s pure hasgone to waste.”

Missouri
"You were bornin Missouri"
He said
Seeing me sad
And that everythingaround me was Hell
Born to Missouri
And bearing tomisery
More

Children chained tothe carousel

Toy Town

A smile is illicitin this city
Where policemen hangtheir hats
On the beaten bodiesof little boys
And bribes
And just not givinga **** about whoever
Whatever
It's not theirproblem
Just leave em how yafound em and
Walk on by

Something to Survive
I couldn't see it
Blame the way theviscid blackness
Of your soul
Exterminates thesunlight
Couldn't feel it
Sinking in your tarlike sand
And blowing bubbles
Like a boiling child
Not loved enough tounderstand
That living
Isn't the same ashaving something
To survive

Kryptonite
I was happy withabandon
So pulled to you Icouldn’t stop it
That you’d beeverything I needed
While you dripped ofsomething toxic
Is second only toyour absence as
The cruelest thingI’ve seen
A kryptonite ofeverything I've ever wanted
Poisoning the air Ibreathe
